2017 promises to be huge year for the wind industry, with 14 wind farms, 1.6 gigawatts capacity and more than $3.6 billion of investment either under construction, or due to begin construction. Together these projects have created 1,605 jobs.
Further projects are likely to be announced in the coming months.
Thanks in large part to the ACT reverse wind auctions and the Victorian and Queensland Governments driving investment in clean energy projects, the next two years are going to be huge for the wind industry, and for regional communities around Australia.
This is the proof in the pudding that the renewables industry is ready, willing and able to both meet the Renewable Energy Target, and deliver huge benefits to regional communities around the country.
For the communities that will host the 14 wind farms, this year will see an influx of investment, jobs and construction activity.
We’ll be following construction and bringing you updates through the year, so stay posted!
See the Clean Energy Council story for further details.
