The Australian Wind Alliance brings together communities, businesses and individuals who support more wind energy for Australia.
From Victoria to Australia
AWA was formed in October 2012 and as VicWind originally concentrated on Victoria. Our founding members were from Ararat, Bacchus Marsh, Ballarat, Bellbrae, Bendigo, Castlemaine, Creswick, Daylesford, Foster, Hamilton, Korweinguboora, Leonards Hill, Lexton, Macarthur, Melbourne, Portland, Riddells Creek, Spring Hill, Trentham, Waubra and Wonthaggi and included farmers, professionals, business people and others.
In April 2014 we extended our work to other states, with a focus on New South Wales and changed our name to Australian Wind Alliance or AWA.
AWA is Australia's leading community-based organisation promoting clean, wind energy to boost regional economies and help us cut local pollution and greenhouse emissions. It is a non-profit company, registered in Ballarat.
Our mandate is to improve the environment, through education about the benefits of wind power. We work on the ground in wind districts and online.
The group has been formed because most Australians want to see more wind energy, but Australia's wind industry is falling behind the rest of the world. Membership is open to individuals, appropriate non-profit organisations and relevant companies.

- Any donations must comply with the requirements set out in the VicWind Constitution, in particular Section 2 (Objects and Powers) and Section 3 (Public Fund);
- A Memorandum of Understanding between AWA and any major donors will be signed, clearly stating that AWA's independence will be maintained at all times.
- Donations will be disclosed as required by Australian law.
