New wind farms break the construction drought

Coonooer_Start_sml.jpgWhile the RET was cut by the Abbott government from 41,000 gigawatt hours to just 33,000 gwh, the legislation of a new, albeit smaller target, has brought back a whiff of investment certainty for new wind farm projects. Coupled with rolled-gold policy support from the ACT government in the form of its Wind Farm Auction, two new wind farm projects have commenced construction - one 75 turbine project at Ararat and another 6 turbine project at Coonooer Bridge in Central Victoria.

On top of that, turbine manufacturer, Goldwind, has kicked off construction of a new 70 turbine wind farm at White Rock in Northern NSW. These three projects mark the first major wind farm projects to kick off in Australia since 2013.
